The conflict-of-interest controversy surrounding Anne Taylor began almost immediately after she was appointed to represent Bryan Kohberger. Taylor, then the chief public defender in Kootenai County, had previously represented Cara Northington, the mother of murder victim Xana Kernodle, in an unrelated criminal matter.
